National Tutoring Programme: A Guide for Teachers and Tutors
We have been following the announcements regarding the National Tutoring Programme from the Education Endowment Foundation, Sutton Trust, Impetus & Nesta.
Being part of the collective campaign to lobby for a £1Billion fund, we are now preparing to support the most disadvantaged pupils and the schools they attend. This massive programme will open up tutoring to a significantly large number of children who can benefit from tutoring come September 2020.
We are beginning our increased open recruitment of qualified teachers to prepare for the new academic year. As an organisation we have made an active choice to provide tutoring using qualified teachers which evidence shows produces double the progress compared to unqualified or volunteer tutors.
From September 2020 we are planning to deliver a mixture of:
In-person one-to-one tuition
Online one-to-one tuition
Online small group tuition
September 2020 is the earliest we will receive National Tutoring Programme specific referrals/placements. We anticipate these to be for:
Literacy and numeracy at Key Stage 1 and 2
A breadth of subjects with a core focus on English, Maths and Science at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5
Transition programmes for Reception, Year 6 and Year 11
SEND placements (both in person and online)
Alternate Provision
