Covid-19 Policy
Whilst the Government has removed all covid restrictions, it’s important we continue to take personal responsibility for the wellbeing of everyone around us, as well as ourselves. We ask for everybody to play their part and take a sensible approach in order to reduce the risk of transmission of covid-19 or other infectious diseases, as it is especially to protect our most vulnerable. Below you will find general guidance and expectations - these continue to be subject to change.
In-person tuition
Upon request we perform a Risk Assessment for in-person tuition during the Allocations stage to ascertain the level of risk to both tutor and student and their households, working closely with our schools and Local Authority partners to do so.
During the Risk Assessment, it is possible we may ask for the vaccination status of a tutor or student when setting up in-person tuition. This information will be provided on a voluntary basis, and will be used only for our records, for health and safety reasons in order to minimise risk and to keep both parties safe.
Ahead of the first session, tutors are to contact parent/carer/school to introduce themselves. During this conversation there is another opportunity to discuss and agree to any specific requests in terms of mask-wearing, social distancing and ventilation of the tuition environment.
Guidance on Covid-19 symptoms, close contact, and testing positive
If you have been in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case you no longer need to self-isolate. However, if possible, we do recommend you test before participating in in-person tuition.
We ask all stakeholders who are present at in-person tuition (such as students, parents/carers and tutors), to inform us if they have tested positive for coronavirus.
Even though the legal requirements to self isolate have been removed, it is important we discuss whether the tuition can go ahead.
Equal Education is prepared to implement high-quality blended learning arrangements so that any child or young person who is well enough to learn from home can do so. If both parties are in agreement, we will move tuition online where required. If a student requires a device on which to learn, please ask us about our technology supply service.
In cases where an in-person tutor contracts Covid-19, tutors must inform Equal Education as soon as possible, before the next scheduled session. We will then work with our tutors to discuss continuity in provision.
We will discuss the feasibility of continuing the tuition (either in-person or online) with both tutor and parents/carers.
If the tutor is not well enough to teach, we will work with the referrer and parent/carer and discuss a plan of action to find a suitable solution.
We continue to encourage everyone to take safety measures to reduce the risk of transmission of this virus and other infectious diseases, including:
Washing/ sanitising hands regularly
Taking sanitising wipes to clean any work surfaces and resources used before and after tuition
Keeping the tuition environment well ventilated, taking extra layers if needed
Wearing masks if desired by either party
Following school and public health advice on keeping each other safe
